In case you're wondering...

JD, Debby and I had a rough first day back at work! Because JD still gets belly pains and screams his head off and because he still won't really take a bottle, I thought it would be best if he and Debby both came to work with me today.

JD fell asleep in the truck on the drive to the office (it's 30 minutes) so Debby dropped me off and drove around for about an hour until he woke up. They then came in to the office and we gave him a bottle. It took a little coaxing but he got it all down. Then Dave happened to be in the area so he stopped in for a minute. Around 11:15 AM we decided to go to lunch. JD fell asleep in the truck again after lunch and Deb drove down the road to the mall.

Deb said he did fine in the mall until he made a poopy diaper. When she lay him down to change him he freaked out and poor Deb had to run through the mall pushing the stroller and holding a screaming baby. She got to the office around 2:30 PM and I brought a bottle out to the parking lot but JD was in full meltdown mode and wouldn't have Justify Fullanything to do with it....so I climbed in the back seat to nurse him. He wouldn't nurse either but I knew he had to be hungry so I had to get him to calm down a little so he would eat something!

I finally got him to eat but the whole time he was kicking his legs so I knew his belly was bothering him. After nursing him I left them in the truck in the parking lot watching a Baby Einstein video....about 10 minutes later Debby calls my cell and says he's in full meltdown mode again. I go back out to the truck and he's just screaming his head off again! I finally get him settled enough to go to sleep so I place him back in his car seat for a nap and Debby sat in the back seat with him for about an hour while he slept. When he woke up around 4:00 PM she brought him back into the office and we tried giving him a bottle again but he still wouldn't take it. He was a little fussy but not screaming and he just didn't want it.

So, for the next hour I typed one-handed and returned phone calls with a baby squirming on my lap, trying to get everything on my desk. Finally at 5:00 PM I walked out of the office to go home....right as JD was making another poopy diaper. After changing him, JD slept the entire way home but woke in the car as we were picking up sushi for dinner....and screamed in his car seat the rest of the way home.

When we got home I nursed him and, when I sat him up to burp he pooped again... this time it was a major blowout causing him to take a shower with Daddy....after which I nursed him yet again and he finally went to sleep around 7:30 PM. With all that pooping going on, I have no doubt that his belly was hurting him.

So I dealt with all of this in the middle of faxes and phone calls and emails... not to mention running out of real estate closings so I could calm the little guy. The clients must have thought I was nuts! And on top of all that, my cell kept ringing with updates on my friend who had the pancreas transplant last night....I didn't mind these phone calls, of course, but it just added another dimension to my day.

I'm now sitting here, exhausted, enjoying a glass of wine and will be crashing into bed very shortly. Luckily I'm told that I shouldn't be needed the rest of the week....but I expect to be called in sometime around Wednesday... this is going to be a long 6-8 weeks if Buddy has to come with me every time I go to the office!
