Cousins!

So I left you with the promise of a bunch of pictures from our weekend... and I shall deliver! I finally got the nerve to take my good camera to the beach and I got some great shots of both JD and Tyler having so much fun together!

We went to the beach every morning, Tyler came and played at Grandma and Papaw's house, we all enjoyed a Lowcountry Boil on the front porch of the Log Inn... it was a wonderful weekend with family! My parents even kept the kids one evening, allowing Dave and I to have an adult dinner out with Kent and Sarah to celebrate our birthdays (did I forget to mention that I just celebrated my 34th birthday??... it was a horrible day of sickness made better only by the fact that my parents came up with chocolate cake from Kudzu Bakery, cooked flank steak and entertaied the kids for a few hours).

Anyway, here are lots and lots of pictures from our weekend!

More from 4th of July

So you've seen all the red, white and blue pics but that's only half the fun! We spent the entire weekend down in Pawleys. Here are some more pics from the weekend.

Chillin' in the yard with Papaw...
Dave bought JD a glowstick so we had a little no-flash fun in the windowless bathroom...can you see JD's face???
Allie spent a lot of time in the sand box...
 ...and playing the harmonica
Mom and dad offered to keep the kids while Dave and I went fishing. We arrived at our neighbor's dock to find our boat sitting on the rocks! Good thing my husband is strong and could just lift it off!
One of my favorite pics from the weekend. Dave catching out bait for the morning. Looking at this picture you wouldn't know he just learned how to throw the castnet a few weeks ago... good job, hon!
JD's illness started with a 102.7 fever on July 3... he woke in the morning and said he was cold and wanted one of "Grandma's blankets"
My kids always have filthy feet while playing in Pawleys. It's how I gauge how much fun they've had!
 More sandbox fun!
Home again and playing with Dave's iPhone while battling a double ear infection

Whew! Now you're all caught up! Now we're off to have more fun!!!

Happy 4th!!

Yes, I know it's well past the 4th of July but you should know to expect lateness from me ny now! The past 2 weeks have been pretty tough. JD had a double ear infection and wheezing (for which he had to take the  steroid Predinsone, which made him literally move every second of the day. The boy could not sit still!), Allie had Roseola (complete with 103.8 temps and an ugly rash) and I had a sinus infection that made the roof of my mouth and teeth throb! Yeah, it's been pretty miserable around here. But Allie is all better, JD only has a few days of his antibiotics left and I'm getting there...sort of... so we're all looking forward to fun times ahead!

In order to not get totally behind, I need to get this post done today! Because after JD's nap we're heading to Peyton's house to help him celebrate his 3rd birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEYTON!) then headed to Pawleys for a ton of fun.... as I type, my cousin Beth and her family are headed this way from TN for a few days. She has a little boy, Tyler, who is 4 1/2  and JD just loves to play with him! So the next time I post it will be full of pics from Peyton's party and beach fun with Tyler!

So now for our Fourth of July weekend....

I think the Fourth of July is one of my all-time favorite holidays. I just have such happy memories of the day from my childhood. We would stay the week with my grandparents on the island, watch the parade on the side of the road, my gradnfather would grill ribs for a late lunch and later that night we would shoot fireworks off of their dock, over the creek. It's a bit different now. The Log Inn is usually rented, the dock was swept away by Hurricane Hugo several years ago and fireworks are no longer allowed on the island.... but the parade and the ribs have stayed constant pretty much my whole life!

This year we were lucky enough to have Abby, Peyton and Abby's mom join us for the parade and, luckily, the tide cooperated so we were able to take the boat over to the island to watch it! Here are some pictures from the parade. Abby brought her good camera so most of these were some that she shared:

After the parade I drug Abby out to our lot so she could see where the house will be. Peyton had fun riding the "tractor" with Dave and JD!
