Peas...

JD seems to want to eat more often these days so Dave and I decided to skip the rice cereal for now and go straight to veggies. We gave him peas yesterday and he's not a fan. The faces he made were hilarious! Dave was feeding him and there were more peas on his face than in his mouth and I don't think any made it to his tummy! I tried again today and got a couple of bites down before he started turning his head away. I'm sure he'll like fruits better but Dave says he needs to learn to like his veggies.

The whole episode reminded me of a story that my mom told me about my oldest brother, Merv (I know you're reading, Merv...sorry). When he was a kid my parents let him eat in the living room one night because he wanted to watch a TV show. When my dad came back into the room all of his peas were gone. My dad, being a very smart man, knew there was no way Merv ate all of his peas. Sure enough, when he lifted the skirt of the couch, there was the pile of peas! Maybe JD will end up hating peas like his Uncle Merv but we're going to give it a shot.... all the articles say that you should offer a food 7 - 10 times so baby can develop a taste for it.

Next week's menu: Green beans... yummy!

Here are some pictures....

You are correct; I am reading this. A soon as I saw the title my stomach turned a bit and I recalled the time "I saved my peas for later" under the couch. You know I was quite the crafty kid! The back story to this is that I always attempted to "save my peas for later"; sometimes they hid under a napkin I was throwing away or may have ended up on someone elses plate when they weren't looking. Either way I STILL DO NOT LIKE PEAS! So hang in there JD, I will teach all the ways to save those peas for later.
