Here we go again! About a month ago I cut dairy and soy from my diet because Allie was showing some of the same signs of tummy trouble that JD showed when he was a baby. Well, on Monday, after a few days of thrashing around and crying and mucousy poops, I found blood in her diaper. Not much, just a speck, but we're slightly paranoid. The speck of blood coupled with the horrific screaming fits she's had the past couple of nights and her rash made me decide to go ahead and call the pediatrician. So, I took her to the doctor today for that and a couple of other reasons.
- She now weighs 10 pounds, 7 ounces. He weight gain is great.
- The doctor said I could try cutting eggs, fish and nuts from my diet in addition to the dairy and soy. He also said if we have to move to formula, he wants to try a couple of others before automatically going to Neocate. But that's only if we absolutely have to stop breastfeeding.
- The rash on her face, that moved to the rest of her body yesterday, is an infection of the oil glands (he told me the name but I can't remember it). He prescribed some cream for it that should clear it up
- This morning she projectile spit up on me. I'm talking a lot of milk going a long way. I had to change my shirt at 4:00 AM.... poor thing was just lying on the bed beside me after eating. Squirming, farting and whimpering a little when all of a sudden she made a gagging noise and milk came shooting out of both nostrils and then her mouth. And it shot over a foot! The doctor said to let him know if it starts to happen more often. I'm sure it was a fluke, one-time thing but he said if it happens more we'll have to keep a close eye on her weight.
So that's the latest. I looks like we may be going down the same road with Allie that we traveled with JD. At least this time around we're a little more knowledgeable and know what to look for....
