Fun in the snow!!

Snow in Myrtle Beach is a pretty rare occurrence. I think the last time we had any accumulation was about 10 years ago! So it's no wonder that pretty much all of the Facebook status' on Friday night for people all up and down the Grand Strand were about the coming snow storm.
When JD woke up on Saturday morning we had about 4" on the ground and oh what fun we had! JD got a little taste of the snow when we were in Tennessee a couple of weeks ago and I'm kind of surprised that he remembered it. He woke up at 5:00 AM (which is not unusual for him these days), Dave showed him the snow out the window and JD immediately wanted to go outside. Dave brought him to me (I was lying in bed nursing Allie) and he said "Mama, snow" and pointed to the window! I got up, gave him breakfast and got him dressed all before the sun even started to rise and the entire time he just kept saying "out?". After I got him dressed he sat by the back door pointing outside and saying "out?".... We were able to hold him off until it just barely started getting light outside.
There was no hesitation at all. He darted out the back door wearing 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants, 2 shirts, 2 jackets (one of which had a hood), his hat with ear flaps and on his hands he had a pair of socks and a pair of fleece mittens that were too big for him. He chased Dave around the yard until Dave showed him how to eat snow. Then all he wanted was a snowball to eat. Throughout the day he kept offering it to me saying "bite?".
We couldn't let JD have all the fun. We put some extra fleece jammies on Allie, along with her fleece jacket and some socks on her hands and she came out (for about 5 whole minutes) to make her very first snow angel. It was the tiniest snow angel I've ever seen.
Of course we had to make a snowman.... and yes, our snowman has a binky. I figured he needed to be a reflection of us and there are a lot of binkies in this house these days! JD helped me with him quite a bit. And by help I mean he kept knocking the snowman's head off before I could get pictures. I think this was the snowman's 4th head!
Ashlyn's Butterfly Bush looked just beautiful covered in snow, as did the rest of the pond....and everything else. It's amazing how beautiful everything is with a fresh coat of snow!
I couldn't resist this. I tried and tried to get a picture of JD's footprints on the beach this past summer but it just never worked out. Here is JD's footprint next to mine... just to document how little he is right now. He's just growing up so darn fast!
When I made JD go inside (at 8:00 AM) to thaw out he refused to take off his hat. He's such a mess!

After a snack and a nap, JD and I went back outside to play some more. He was obsessed with the snowman! When Dave got home from work I mentioned to him that my dad had a large limb down in his yard and needed to borrow the chain saw as we were planning to have lunch at their house on Sunday anyway. Dave suggested that we go ahead and go to their house and spend the night. I was surprised but agreed to throw some things in a bag and off we went! We had so much fun on our mini-vacation. We very much enjoyed sitting by the fire (we don't have a fireplace and have put that at the top of our list for our next house), JD and Allie both slept pretty well (surprisingly) and on Sunday (Valentine's Day) I enjoyed a walk in the woods with my favorite guys... JD, Dave and my dad!
