Our sweet little Allison is 1 month old today (well, she will be at 10:14 tonight). Our home scale says she weighs 9.5 pounds, though that's not very accurate as it only weighs by the half pound, not by ounces.
I have already noticed differences between her and JD when he was her age. JD usually wanted to eat every 2 hours, if not more often. Allie usually wants to eat every 2.5 hours, sometimes longer if she's napping! She has already given me a couple of nights where she sleeps 6 hours straight... which would be nice if JD was also sleeping well... which he's not!
She holds her head up for pretty long periods of time and loves to look around. Yesterday she gave us her first real smiles. There's nothing better than seeing her whole face smile in response to my smile. And, she has started making cooing noises. Not very often but every now and then when she's lying in her pack-n-play I'll hear her "talking"... which is much better than crying out!
Speaking of crying out. Dave and I decided two weeks ago that I would cut dairy and soy from my diet. Allie was showing some of the same behaviors that JD displayed when he had tummy problems. Allie's cries were probably just an immature digestive system but we're kind of paranoid about these things so we decided to take the precaution. She has gotten better. I don't know if it's because of the change in my diet or if she's just starting to get the hang of pooping, but we'll give it another couple of weeks and I'll reintroduce soy to my diet and see how she does. In any event, I've found it much easier to limit my diet this time around. Probably because I don't have to do all the research and label reading that I had to do last time. This time I already know what I can and can't have!
