1 Year + 8 Months

So, if 1 year + 8 months = 20 months... that means we're going to have a 2 year old in just four very short months. I must say, I think the terrible two's are visiting our house a wee bit early. I'm sure it's just him adjusting to life as a big brother (or, more aptly put, adjusting to sharing Mommy) but man he knows all of my buttons! Today, for example, he woke up at 3:30 AM, not wanting to go back to bed. I gave him a snack thinking he must be hungry since he didn't eat much dinner the night before... but that didn't work. He just wanted to be up. Finally, at 5:00 AM I put him in his crib, told him night night and went back to bed. He cried and slept on and off until about 6:15 when Dave finally got him up. He was in time out for biting by 7:15 AM. Throughout the day he bit me (leaving marks) twice, tried to kick his sister while I was nursing her and leaped onto my back from the couch (I was sitting on the floor), using my hair as reigns (and giving me a headache). Yeah. It was a busy time out day.... and this was in between all the general fussiness!

But we're dealing. He is learning how to share with his sister. At the beginning of this week he would throw toys at her. I've been showing him how to place his toys nicely on her lap and giving out BIG hugs and high fives when he does it correctly. He's catching on but I have to remind him from time to time. It's not all fussiness all the time, though. He loves being outside and so does Allie. We all get bundled up and head out for at least an hour each day. JD plays and Allie sleeps in her car seat. We go down the slide, dig in the dirt, feed the ducks, mow the grass with his toy mower, etc. His favorite phrase right now is "There it is!" He says it all the time and it's really cute how he uses it correctly.

JD continues to be 1000% boy. He goes and goes and goes. He hits his head at least five times a day and usually just keeps on going. Occasionally he'll come to me so I can kiss it. The picture above? He was running around like a maniac the other night, tripped and fell into the corner of a table. The knot was so big that night that it looked like he was growing a horn! Dave was with him when it happened but by the time they got to me he had already stopped crying. He's a tough little kid!

Here are some pictures of JD from the past week:

JD relaxing in Allie's bouncy chair.... I'll have to dig up one of him in it when he was Allie's age and do a comparison...
HA! Now this made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. Dave and JD were playing in our bedroom when JD walked out wearing one of Allie's size 1 diapers (JD is currently in a size 5). I'm surprised Dave could even get it fastened!

JD sharing the Elmo Valentine he got in the mail from Nana with his sister. The very excited expression on his face was from the opening credits of Curious George... he loves that show
