Welcome Home Allie!!

Allison and I both fared extremely well in the hospital. She took to breastfeeding immediately (like, 20 minutes after she was born) and has been eating ever since! My recovery this time around has been much better. I was up and able to walk around on my own much quicker than with JD. We spent two nights in the hospital only because the "rule" is that I had to stay a full 24 hours after delivery... and with delivery being at 10:14 PM, I didn't have a choice but to stay the extra night. But boy was I ready to get home and see JD. He had a ball with my parents and my brother and sister-in-law and I know he was in good hands (and from the pictures I know he had a ball) so I wasn't worried about him... I just missed him like crazy! So we headed home on Sunday around 11:00 AM and received a very warm welcome. There balloons and flowers and I, of course, cried like a baby when I walked in the door and scooped JD up!

JD wasn't allowed to visit us at the hospital so Sunday is the first time he met his new baby sister. Here is a short video of his reaction:

Dave and I think his reaction was hilarious. Now he's very sweet with her. He likes to see the baby in the morning and he likes to give her a binky and kiss her on the head.

After things calmed down everybody left for a while and we got JD down for a nap. Dave and I napped too, of course. They returned with cake (at my request... I was craving birthday cake for some reason) and the makings of dinner and we all had a Welcome Home party for Allison. JD especially liked the cake!

One last little note. I didn't get any good pictures (the one below is one that my brother Merv took) but the dress that Allison wore home from the hospital is the very same one that I wore home from the hospital when I was born. I'll have to put her back in it to take some pictures and then put it away. Who knows, maybe Allie will have a little girl of her own some day and need it....
