Just stuff...

The kids are doing fun stuff and I have some cute pics so I decided to post.

JD's doing great with his vocabulary. Every day he finds new ways to string words together and communicate with me. Like today. After his snack of strawberries and blueberries he asked for a cookie, meaning he wanted an Oreo. I went to the pantry and discovered that there were none left so I told him they were all gone.... to which he replied "Daddy eat." This kid is hilarious! He does need some help from time to time, though. He thinks all bodies of water are called the beach (baby pool in the back yard, water table, regular swimming pool). Last week we went swimming at a friend's house and when I was getting him dried off and changed he pointed to the door and said "beach". I said "no, honey, that's a pool. Can you say pool?". JD said "cool".... so I sounded it out for him and said "puh, puh, pool"... JD obligingly replied "puh, puh, cool!"..... I don't think hooked on phonics is going to work for him!

He also says please and thank you very consistently. Especially when he wants something. He will count to two and will sometimes tack nine on the end... can't get him to say three, though! He blames all of his boo boos on "Hammy"... which is Sammy, our cat, and thinks every smudge of dirt is poop! He'll also specify whether it's Allie poop or Sammy poop. Not quite sure where he picked that up! He sings the tune of the "ABC's" but doesn't say the actual letters and has two favorite games. One is where he tells me "night night" so I'll close my eyes.. Then he wakes me up by roaring like a lion. Apparently this is very funny. The other he likes to play at the dinner table. I call it "Stop and Go". He says stop and Dave and I freeze, whether we were talking or taking a bite of our dinner. We stay that way until he says go. I think he likes being in control but we have to limit that game or it takes us forever to eat!

I'm thrilled to report that Allie is finally sleeping completely through the night! She first did it on June 11, which was the night before JD's birthday party. Great timing because that was a very busy day! Happily, she's only woken during the night for a binky replacement once since then. Actually, last night JD slept 13 hours and Allie slept 11 hours and I got 9 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep!  She is also sitting unassisted now. She's not great at correcting her balance or catching herlsef, though, so I stick pretty close. She loves to sit on the floor and play with JD's toys!

Lastly, JD helped put dinner on the table tonight! A couple of days before his birthday I sent him to my parents house for the day so I could make his cake and get some things done. While he was down there he helped my dad dig potatoes from the garden....something I loved doing as a child! Well, tonight we ate the potatoes that JD had fun digging up and they were so yummy!  Here are a few pictures of the fun he had not only digging potatoes but also helping Grandma bake cookies while he was there!
