Boy have we been busy since JD's birthday! My cousin, Beth, from Tennessee and her family have been staying at the Log Inn this week. Her youngest son, Tyler, is 3 1/2 years and JD loves to play with him so we've been spending a good deal of time with them! Here's a day-by-day of our week!
On Tuesday I met my mom half way and dropped Allie off with her. Why did I send Allie to Grandma's for the day and not JD you ask? Because we had JD's 2 year well visit at the pediatrician on Tuesday. He now weighs 26 pounds, 6 ounces (30th percentile), is 34.5 inches tall (56th percentile) and his head measures 51 cm (above the 95th percentile). He's still a skinny little kid (I guess we just make skinny babies) but he's catching up in the height department! And I think he'll always have a big noggin! He did great at the doctor's office. He did not get shots so that helped.
After the doctor I brought him home for his nap and then we headed to Grandma's house! Beth and her crew came over for dinner and JD and Tyler got all wound up chasing each other around the house. At one point both boys needed to get in Allie's exersaucer, of course! And at another point they both decided that Dave gives good horsey rides!
I hope Dave has a strong back!
JD jumping in the exersaucer like it's a jumperoo
He couldn't get out and asked for help. Tyler started to pull him out by his head! JD thought it was funny, of course.
Tyler's turn!
Early Tuesday morning JD told me his tummy hurt and he needed a band-aid. Tyler was trying to take the Batman band-aid off of JD's belly button.
Playing chase...
Allie relaxing in her seat, watching the action.
Supper time!
The little boys had fun sitting next to each other....although neither one of the actually ate....
We got up bright and early on Wednesday morning and hit the beach. Let me tell you, both kids did fantastic at the beach and we were able to stay for 2 whole hours! JD touched a shark (a guy fishing near us caught a baby shark and let JD touch it), jumped lots and lots of waves, was introduced to the surfboard (thanks to Uncle Kent) and had a lot of fun digging! Allie spent the first 45 minutes or so sleeping in her shade tent and then was pretty well occupied by Jordan! After the beach, baths, lunches and naps, I packed up the kids and headed home.
Allie sleeping away in her little tent....it's nice that I can zip her into it to keep JD's pesky hands away while she's trying to sleep!
JD on the beach... remember that Batman band-aid from above? Take a look at his belly button now.... it has a square around it!
What's this thing?!?!? Kent brought his "fun board" to the beach.
We took it out in the water and JD sat on it for a second but enjoyed it much more on the sand!
I love this picture... too bad I didn't notice the finger print on the lens until after I had taken it!
Allie is awake and ready to party!
Chattin' with Beth...
Jumping with Jordan!
JD and Kent took a walk...
Time to dig!
Right before he smashed Kent's castle.
He watched Paul build a castle....
Looked at me as if he was asking permission to smash it...
then decided to help.
"pat, pat, pat"... is what he said as he patted the sand with the shovel.
Tyler's turn to smash castles!
We didn't do anything special on Thursday but JD had fun playing with his water table on the back porch. It was a nice break from all the action!
Today started early, of course. As I was sitting at the table eating breakfast with JD we sort of had a little conversation. It went a little something like this:
JD: Cake. Cake, mommy, cake
Me: I don't have any cake left honey.
JD: Choo choo!
Me: That's right! You did have a choo choo cake for your birthday!
JD: Mommy made.
Me: Too stunned to say anything!
I just can't believe he remembered that I made him a train cake a week ago and found enough words to verbalize it! He's such a smart little guy!
Later in the morning I took the kids to the pool at Wild Wing. My mom met me there with Beth, Tyler and Jordan (who, by the way, has been a HUGE help with the kids this week, especially Allie....if you ever need your baby occupied, enlist the help of a 17 year old!). JD and Tyler had a ball and I was able to try out Allie's new float. She's still a bit small for it, I think it would work better if she was a little taller, but she liked it and floated around for quite a while! We were there for about 1.5 hours before Allie started getting cranky so we packed up and came home. Both kids are now sleeping!
JD swimming with Grandma... getting used to wearing a life jacket.
Allie loved her new float!
Tyler having fun... Jordan looked a little less than thrilled but I think she had a good time too!
JD and Tyler playing in the baby pool
JD was "swimming"... he was really just crawling in the baby pool. It's only one food deep
Tyler playing in the splash pad
Beth and the family are leaving tomorrow. I sure will miss them and hope they come back soon! I think the next round of family will be coming to town around July 4th and I'm very much looking forward to it!
But the fun doesn't stop! I'll have more pictures for you tomorrow. Poor Walker was sick last weekend for his birthday so he couldn't have a party. He's feeling better now and his belated birthday party is tomorrow evening! JD will have so much fun playing with Walker and Peyton and eating cake, of course!
