It wasn't a bad appointment but it wasn't a great appointment either. She now weighs 10 pounds, 14 ounces (53rd percentile) and is 22.5 inches long (67th percentile). Her weight gain was described as marginal by her doctor, meaning that it's on the very low end of acceptable at only 1/2 ounce per day. So, he wants to see her again in two weeks to make sure she's gaining enough weight.
I discussed with him her tummy problems, of course. He seems to be stumped and told me to go ahead and cut wheat from my diet. He said we should wait it out a couple more weeks to see if that, along with the other fairly recent changes I've made to my diet, helps. We did put into place a "formula plan" for when I get tired of altering my diet or when Allie seems to be hurting too much. Her doctor wants to try putting her on Alimentum first, which is made by Similac and more easily accessible, not to mention cheaper than Neocate. If that doesn't work he'll probably just write out the prescription for Neocate and I'll begin the process of getting preauthorization from our insurance company in hopes that they'll cover some of the cost.
Allie also got her two month shots yesterday. Poor thing turned bright red and screamed her head off. But she calmed after just a few minutes and slept in the car on the way home. We got home around 5:15 last night and by 6:00 she was screaming her head off again. I got her calmed and tried a nice warm bath and she started screaming again. I mean, screaming like I've never heard her scream. The kind of sharp scream that made me cry too! So I figured it must be shot related and gave her some Tylenol in case her poor little legs were hurting her. She finally conked out in the bed beside me around 8:00 PM. I moved her to her car seat (which is where she is still sleeping) and didn't hear from her for six whole hours. She must have worn herself out with all that screaming! She's fussy again today, wanting only to be held so it should be an interesting day. JD gets jealous when I have to hold Allie all day ....
Speaking of JD, he's having a lot of fun with Nanny and Poppy these days. The other day they came over to take JD to the neighborhood playground and Nanny's jacket matched JD's outfit perfectly.... and it wasn't even planned!
While they were busy being the Bobsie Twins, Poppy got some quality Allie time in....
