1 year + 9 months

 JD is 21 months old today! Birthday party planning is in full swing and I just refuse to believe that I'll have a 2 year old in just a few short months! He's too active to weigh and measure anymore but I think he's still around 25 pounds and 33 inches. He's still short and skinny and I guess I'll have to wait until his two-year checkup to get accurate measurements.

The past few months have been like a language explosion. I swear JD says a new word or phrase every day. I have to keep reminding Dave to watch his language around our little parrot! He still has a love/hate relationship with his sister. He loves to hold her, kiss her, talk to her but absolutely hates when I have to get up to help her when I've been playing with him. Can't blame the kid... I wouldn't like that either if I were a two year old. Today Allie got a hold of JD's thumb and wouldn't let go. JD thought that was just hilarious and spent the next half hour trying to pry Allie's fist open so she could hold his fingers some more.

This afternoon I got the Bumbo out of the closet for Allie. I turned around for 2 seconds to close the closet door and this is what I saw:

JD absolutely loves it and thinks it's for him. I got him out of it long enough for Allie to try it out but after a few seconds of her being in it, JD declared that she was "all done" and tried to pull her out by her jammies. Good thing I was near by! I guess it will be JD's chair until he tires of it... that's OK, Allie is still a bit small for it anyway!

After that I put Allie in her crib for a few minutes while I straightened the nursery and this is what JD passed the time doing:

I swear the kid climbs on anything and everything! I'm absolutely stunned that he hasn't climbed out of his crib yet. Oh how I dread that day. This kid needs to be contained. I'm thinking he'll never sleep if he's allowed to just roam around his room at will!
