Party Day!!

And what a day it was! I have never worked so hard and been so unprepared for a party! I seriously ran out of time. I woke up at 5:30 AM (OK, JD woke me up at 5:30), worked my butt off all day long and was still decorating JD's birthday cake in my sweats when the first guests arrived!

It was a very hectic day, complete with a broken AC (while it's 90 degrees outside and I have 40 people in my living room), but the party was great, JD was a happy boy and was very well behaved the entire time!

Here are several pictures of the event. I have lots and lots of video but I need to edit it into several shorter clips to put it up on the blog... who knows when I'll get around to that but I'll try my best. Did I mention that JD is walking? That adds a whole new dimension to my days! Enjoy the pictures!!

My mom and I made this birthday banner for JD.
It's fabric so we can use it every year for his birthday!

Here's my best shot at a monkey cake. I'm not artistic in the least but I think it turned out kind of cute. Ignore the brown flecks in the white icing. They came from the pastry bag holding the chocolate icing and I didn't have the time or desire to fix it! I love how the cupcakes turned out. I think they were cute topped with banana candies!

Play time!

This is Kendall sporting a party hat.

I'm not sure what JD was thinking here but the look on his face is hilarious!

I LOVE this picture... thanks Liz for taking it! This is Peyton, JD and Kendall. I worked with Abby, Peyton's mom and Liz, Kendall's mom at the law firm. We were all pregnant at the same time. In fact, I have a picture somewhere on this blog of all 3 of us pregnant at my baby shower! Hard to believe the babies are here.... much less turning one. Peyton will be one in 4 weeks and then 2 weeks later it'll be Kendall's turn!
Here are Kendall and Peyton with their mommies!

JD hates hats... I don't think he's too happy with me in this picture....

Here is JD with his birthday buddy, Walker. JD and walker were born on the same day in the same hospital... in fact, just 1 hour and 33 minutes apart! We had a ball at Walker's birthday party on Saturday!

Present time! JD didn't care a thing about the wrapping paper or bows... but he sure liked what came out of the wrapping paper!

This is probably my favorite picture of the entire day. Dave and JD were playing with the truck and making car noises as I unwrapped more gifts.

"Mom! What the hell did you put on me?" - The bib says "Happy First Birthday JD" and his shorts say "Birthday Boy" on the butt. I wasn't able to get a picture of the shorts but Kent did and said he'd email them to me....I'll post it when I get it.

This is the only picture I have of him wearing his fancy hat...
he left it on for about 3 seconds.

The final product. I worked so hard drawing that monkey... that's the first thing JD destroyed. I'm glad he liked it!
So there it is.... JD's very first birthday party. I have several friends and family members who said they would email pictures to me so I'll post more as they come in. Thanks to everyone who sent their birthday wishes. I still can't believe we have a one year old!
