Today, JD was a little more adventurous at the beach... tasting all the shells, digging in the sand and crawling around chasing his ball. Even though we rinsed off in the ocean several times we both ended up coming home covered in sand! Somehow, by some miracle, I got him to keep his hat on. Normally he rips it off his head the second I put it on but today I was able to distract him and I think he forgot that it was up there.
We're home now and both exhausted. Monkey is sleeping in his crib and I'm washing all the wet towels and bathing suits..... a mother's work is never done!
Tomorrow we go to the doctor for JD's 12 month check-up and shots. I'm anxious to see how much weight he's gained. If he's over 20 pounds (which I'm sure he is) then, legally, we'll be able to turn his car seat around. I'm sure he would like to face forward... and I would like to be able to see his face while we're in the car! But, the AAP recommends keeping them facing the rear of the car as long as possible. His car seat will allow him to face the rear until he's 30 pounds. Dave and I haven't decided what we're going to do yet. I would like to keep him backwards for a while longer but he has started crying in his car seat (something he's NEVER done) and I have a feeling facing him forward would make him much happier! We'll see how it goes.....

We turned Walker around last weekend. It is such a different experience for him and he LOVES it. I wanted to wait too.....being able to interact with him is awesome.
