I do have a few JD related things to say tonight but the main focus of this post needs to be on Dave. We are so, so proud of him right now!
Back in 2001 when Dave and I just started dating he was an Assistant Golf Professional. He was working on passing the Players Ability Test and did so on a trip to Pennsylvania, with his mom as his caddy. Little did I know where passing that test would lead! Ever since passing the PAT and making it in to the Professional Golf Management program within the PGA, Dave has spent countless hours working, studying, researching. This program not only entailed dozens of binders full of assignments to be completed but also three trips to Florida for exams and seminars. His subjects have ranged from Swing Concepts to Food & Beverage Management to Supervising & Delegating to Turfgrass Management... and everything else golf related in between!
Well, I am happy and SUPER proud to say that Dave graduated from that program on Tuesday evening. He left last Sunday, spent all day Monday taking his last exams (on which he got VERY high marks), Spent the day on Tuesday making a presentation and enduring a mock interview and flew home on Wednesday. As usual, Dave put all of his efforts into this checkpoint and came sailed through it. I can't tell you how many nights we sat up practicing and timing his presentation.... quizzing him on the various subjects!
I am so proud of him for sticking with this program and completing it! And I must say that I am totally thrilled that the studying has come to an end! So is Dave. In fact, he has already packed away all of his books and stashed them in his office, glad that we don't have to look at them in the house any more!
When he came home I had balloons waiting on him, as I always do when he gets home from checkpoints. He and JD had fun in the back yard releasing them and watching them float away....
Speaking of JD. He's doing more new stuff. He's started pointing at things with his index finger. Usually he just holds his whole hand out. He's also started to put things places. Let me explain... He puts the golf ball in the middle of one of the rings from his rock-a-stack. He takes a block off of the lowest shelf and puts it up on the middle shelf. Tonight in the bathtub he put his toy frog into his scoop and crawled around the tub with it. He also likes to put his bath toys on the ledge of the tub. It's funny to watch him find new places to put things!
He has also started handing things to people. He brings his toys and hands them to me... then I hand them back to him. He likes this game. He tries to put Noah's binky back into Noah's mouth (after he's taken it out of Noah's mouth, that is). This requires my supervision, of course... but he will pick a toy up off of the floor and hand it to Noah while Noah is in the swing. He's getting pretty good at sharing! Sweet little Noah is so tolerant of JD. He just sits there and looks at him.
JD hasn't tried to take any more steps. In fact, since he took his first two steps last week, he's barely let me put him down. He's going through a very clingy phase right now and if I so much as lean over like I'm going to sit him on the floor he grabs onto my shirt and starts fussing.... oh, it's fun (I hope you can note the sarcasm here)! Hopefully this phase will pass quickly....
The only other noteworthy event I can think of is JD's last swimming class. He enjoyed the water as always but the first thing we did during this class was life jackets. JD was not a fan. He cried as soon as we put it on him and cried almost the whole time he wore it in the water. The kind he wore in class, as you can see, was the old-school style that just goes over your head. Later that day I bought him a vest style that has a support for his head. I haven't tried it on him yet. Hopefully he'll like it better because we'd like to go out on the boat with Uncle Kent this summer!

My brother Kent and his girlfriend Sarah are having a cookout on Sunday for Memorial Day. I'll be sure to post pictures... we're really looking forward to it!
