So sorry!

I am so sorry it has been so long since I've updated this blog! We've been so busy lately!! JD is FAST on his knees and keeps me running!

We had a great weekend. JD loved his swim lesson on Saturday morning. We got him moving his arms and legs while I held him under his belly. He looked like a little frog in the water and was giggling the whole time! After swimming we drove down to meet Kent and Sarah at the Blessing of the Inlet. It was a beautiful day and I thoroughly enjoyed a BBQ sandwich from Hog Heaven! Sunday we all went up to Barefoot Landing and walked around for a few hours. Dave's Porsche club was having a charity event to benefit the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society and our Porsche was on display with about 15 others. Again, it was a beautiful day and JD was very well behaved all weekend long!

Okay... now on to JD's new things!

~ He is starting to get the courage to let go when he's standing. I've noticed he stands unassisted mostly when he's distracted and will stand there for a full minute! Sometimes he even sits down.... not falls down, sits down from this position. He bends his little knees like he's squatting and just sits! And the other day he was holding on to his jumper when he let go and proceeded to just look at both of his hands.

~ Speaking of hands.... he's started giving us the sign for "all done" or "all gone". Like when he's finished with his bottle, when he's thrown his toy out of the bathtub, when he's finished eating Cheerios, when Sammy walks away, etc. He does it all the time and it's the cutest thing ever! I'll try to get a picture of it later....

~ On a similar note, he has this new kneeling thing he does. If you can picture this: He is up on his right knee with his left foot flat on the floor. Kind of like he's proposing..."down on one knee".... It looks like he's just going to stand right up at any minute (without pulling up on something, that is)

~ As I mentioned in my last post (don't forget to vote for JD today, by the way... you can vote once a day!) he now says ball! And he LOVES to play ball! It mostly comes out as "buh" but he only says it when he's holding a ball so I know that's what he's trying to say. Dave tells me he is also saying Mama but I'm not 100% convinced of that. According to Dave, while I was out mowing the grass the other day, he and JD were watching me from JD's bedroom window. Dave said that every time I passed by the window JD would say Mama... I've heard him say it once but it was directed more towards Dave than me!

~ He has figured out how to open cabinets. It started with the cabinets on his dresser. He grabs ahold of the knob, opens it and proceeds to dump his basket full of socks all over his room. Then he moved on to the cupboards in the kitchen. The ones up high that have knobs. If we're holding him in the kitchen he just has to open, close, open, close, repeat! Well, now he's figured out how to open the bottom cabinets in the kitchen by grabbing the edge (they don't have knobs). I'm now thankful that I put the cabinet locks on a few months ago! He likes to get into "his" cabinet but gets really, really mad when he can't open the others! Along those same lines, he likes to swing the low cabinets and any door open, then closed, open, then closed, etc. It seems to fascinate him!

~ He's still climbing and getting quite good at it. In fact, he's not really even phased any more when he falls! He just gets up and goes right back at it!

That's all I can think of for now.... I'll be sure to post more often as JD continues to do more new things!! I hope everybody reading this is enjoying the same beautiful weather that we've had. JD and I are really enjoying our daily walks to the swings!
