What a wonderful weekend! I'll never have another FIRST Mother's Day and it was a terrific one!
Saturday we went to swimming. JD loved the water as usual and got right down to the business of kicking and splashing as soon as we got in the pool. My mom and my Aunt Avis drove up to watch the little froggie. After swimming I put JD down for a nap and my mom stayed with him while I ran some errands and got my hair cut. Then mom gave me a beautiful Knockout Rose for Mother's Day. It has lots of buds on it so I'll post a picture of it when it blooms!
Sunday we got up and JD gave me a card and sent me on a trail of clues that led to my Mother's Day gifts.... which included a bag of candy that was half eaten and a ball for playing in the yard. Later that day he gave me the most wonderful gift of all... it's exactly what I wanted for Mother's Day: a 2 hour nap!! Ever since he's been sick (the past 4 weeks) his sleep has been crappy. He's been getting up 4 and 5 times a night and only napping for about 45 minutes at a time. So, as soon as I got used to him sleeping for 11 hours, we went back to being up all night. And I couldn't usually get a nap during the day because JD and little Noah usually have opposite nap schedules. I've been one tired momma! On top of my two hour nap, JD slept all night last night! He went down at 7:30... woke briefly at 10:30 and I didn't hear from him again until 6:00 this morning!!
So yesterday, after my nap, I planted my new rose bush and then my parents and brother came over for dinner. I made lasagna and Kent brought dessert... strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream! It was so yummy!
It was a beautiful day complete with beautiful weather. I hope all the other Mommy's out there had a terrific Mother's Day too!
