Moving right along...

JD continues to make leaps and bounds....some fun, some not so fun. Most notably, he's figured out how to open the doors in the house. We've had doorknob covers on the doors that lead outside for quite a while now but not on the interior doors. I had to put one on the pantry door because he kept opening it and grabbing the bag of mini-marshmallows. Inevitably it would be right before lunch or dinner and I had to tell him no, which led to a tantrum. And telling him over and over and over and over not to open that door wasn't working... so now it's childproofed!

The worst result of this new found skill, though, is that he can now get out of his bedroom. He's always slept with his door closed. We've tried a few times to leave it open but he just likes it closed... unless he decides he doesn't want to go to bed. Wednesday night he kept coming out and I kept putting him back in. All of this was done tearfully. Finally, he ended up passing out on the hall floor outside of his room. I put him in bed when I was sure he was sleeping soundly! Well, he pulled the same tricks today for nap time. I know he's tired. He gets nasty when he's tired. Whiny and kind of mean. I've been hit, kicked and bitten today (all resulting in time out, of course). He's been yawning, playing with his ears (that's what he's always done when he's tired) and generally cranky. So, we ate lunch a bit early and moved nap time up too. He kept coming out of his room so I put a gate at his doorway. It was too quiet so I went to see if he finally went to sleep. When I rounded the corner, the little monkey was climbing the gate to get BACK INTO his room! I was left with no option but to double gate him into his room (one gate on top of the other). He looked like a caged animal on his video monitor but wasn't crying to get out, just standing there, playing with his ears....He sat in his bed playing with his stuffed animals for a little while, got up, closed his door, climbed back into bed and went to sleep!

Oh the fun of having a two year old!

Anyway, here are some pictures of our week. It's been pretty uneventful. My parents came up one day and allowed me to visit a friend who just had a baby and go find a bathing suit. Bathing suit shopping is something I loathe but I've worn my maternity bathing suit for the past couple of summers and it's finally too big for me (yay) but I had a hell of a time finding a new suit (boo)... I finally did, though and can't wait to wear it this weekend for our Independence Day festivities!

This is JD's time out spot. He's not in time out but, apparently, his giraffe and dinosaur are!
We've had a couple of cooler days this week so I let Allie play outside for a little while. She was quite content sitting on her blanket with her toys.... as you can see in the next few pictures.

Peek-a-boo! Allie was sitting in her crib playing with toys (it's her safe-from-big-brother spot) when she noticed me sitting in the recliner next to her...
See my teeth?!?!
We've done more stuff this week but I'm putting that in a separate post. Dave and I have decided that it's time for JD to have some structured learning time in his days. He doesn't sit for long but I've been working on shapes and colors this week. Stay tuned for JD's projects from this week!
