HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!!!

Today my wonderful hubby turns 40! We spent the night at my parents house last night and, despite a night of awake children, we woke up in Pawleys and Dave was able to eat his birthday breakfast of a bacon and egg sandwich and get right to work on our lot.

Maybe I haven't mentioned our lot yet.... we have a lot that we plan to build on soon down in Pawleys Island. The surveyors came today to mark the corners as well as the center line of the road we have to clear so Dave wanted to be there for that.

I gave Dave the gift of manual labor as I hauled the trees that he cut up, and stacked them to start his very first firewood pile! Those of you who know Dave know that he loves to burn firewood in a fireplace.... you'll also know that we don't have a fireplace in our current house!

JD and I left around 11:30 to head home... we had some very important business to take care of:

Baking Daddy's birthday cupcakes. Dave requested cupcakes with chocolate fudge icing.... I just couldn't resist teasing him just a little bit about turning 40!

Dinner was underway when Dave arrived home with Allie. Per Dave's request, we had steak, shrimp, fresh mushrooms (shrimp & mushrooms were prepared both skewered and grilled and sauteed in garlic and oil), sweet potato casserole and asparagus. After dinner we sang (okay, I sang) and everyone enjoyed cake....even Mini! 

Normally I wouldn't let her have cake but she's not feeling well (stomach virus causing diarrhea - JD had it last week - and is cutting two teeth) so Dave felt she needed a little "pick me up".... She was grinning from ear to ear and so was JD!

It's now 7:15 PM and everyone is in bed asleep - including the birthday boy himself! Dave worked hard in the woods today and is talking about going back down tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get a more restful night tonight!

Oh! Here's an interesting tidbit I learned today. Remember JD's friend Walker?  The cute little blond boy that we do pretty much everything with? Remember that they were born on the same night in the same hospital? Well, as it turns out, today is Walker's Daddy's birthday too! How weird is that??

And one last "gift" for Dave.... Allie said Dada for the first time this afternoon. She's not been much of a babbler. She talks all the time but is just now starting to say things like "yayayaya" so saying Dada (even before she said Mama) is a big deal and very cool that she started saying it on Dave's birthday!
