The Big Top

On the spur of the moment we decided to take JD and Allie to the circus yesterday. My mom was already planning to spend the day with us so she came too and I'm so glad she did! It was nice having an extra set of hands to juggle children!

I knew JD would like the show but didn't know if he would make it through the whole thing. Well, he did! And he loved every second of it! I have very fond memories of going to the circus when I was a kid. There's a big difference though. When I was a kid living in Columbia, SC, we would go to the coliseum... the air conditioned coliseum. Yesterday we sat in an actual circus tent! It was fun.... but hot, very hot.

Here are some pictures from our adventure. Most of them are blurry. Sorry about that. If I used the camera flash the pics turned out dark. When I turned the flash off I could get pictures of the action but they all turned out blurry. It was the lesser of two evils, I guess!

First order of business at the circus? Elephant rides, of course! As soon as we walked up and saw the elephant's JD started saying "In, Daddy, in!"
The first act was the tigers. JD was mesmerized... he loved them!
He pretty much spent the entire time clapping while up on Dave's shoulders. Every now and then he came down to sit with either me or Grandma.
The trapeze act was fun!
In case you can't tell, these are camels, llamas, zebras and ponies
JD waving bye-bye to the clowns. They had a car that basically fell apart during their act. JD is still talking about the car that "broke"
First bite of cotton candy...
.... Looks like it was a hit!
A hot and sweaty Allie at the end of the show. She was a very good girl the whole time!
