Full Steam Ahead!

We're staying busy as usual!

Allie's 4th tooth finally cut through last Wednesday. It's on the top left and has been giving her a hard time....fever and all! I'm glad the hard part is finally over....until the next one!

Allie has a new "game". I call it give and take. She gives me her binky with a big grin and I hand it back to her. She takes it from me and we do it all over again. Repeat about 500 times!

Allie also likes to walk while holding onto my fingers. She'll walk all over the house like that if I let her. I'm not encouraging it though. #1 it makes my back hurt and #2 I don't want her outright walking any time soon! She's getting too big too fast!
JD's newest way to entertain himself is by lining things up. Blocks on the windowsill, fruit gummies on the kitchen table, cars on the bookcase....you get the idea.

JD also has a new obsession: keys. He sees us using a key to unlock the front door so he's created a few of his own keys and all over the house I see toys hanging from the doorknobs. He tells me "Gate closed!" Then he takes it off, opens the door and declares "Door open!"

JD talks and talks and talks now. Some of his funnier comments: We were driving through Conway a couple of weeks ago when he spotted a grain and feed store shaped like a red barn. JD said "Look Mommy. Cow House!" And Sunday we were driving back from my parents house and Allie was in the back babbling away when JD started saying "Say dada, Allie. Da da da da."

JD also likes to help me feed Allie. He's pretty good at it but likes to feed her Cheerios by spoon, which she doesn't really need help with! They also already fuss and fight over toys. Any time JD tries to take a toy that Allie is playing with (which is pretty often) she screams at him. Any time Allie tries to take what JD is playing with (which is also pretty often), JD screams and says "No Allie!" and then Allie screams back at him because he won't give her his toy! Fun times ahead if they're starting this early!
I now have a babysitter! A girl that works with Dave has come over a few times in the past couple of weeks to stay with the kids while I go grocery shopping. My first plan was to enroll JD in a part time day care program but the ones I've checked out so far are WAY too expensive. I'm talking about $400 a month! But I've heard that church affiliated programs are less expensive so I'll look in to some of those soon. Plan B is a babysitter. JD is having a bout of separation anxiety lately and it's driving me nutty. So, Molly came over and I locked myself in the garage and started organizing stuff for the yard sale we'll have in a few weeks. JD could come in whenever he wanted to and say hello. It worked great. The second day she came JD had a couple of meltdowns, one after I actually left the house. Last time she came he fussed for a few minutes when I left but Molly said he did great the whole time I was gone.

Dave and I are working on getting rid of JD's binky....still. He now knows that he has to put his binky under his pillow when he gets up or he's not allowed to come out and play. Here is Dave's solution:
Dave used some sort of something to adhere the binky to the top of a water bottle. At first JD just kept handing it to me saying "stuck. take off, mommy!" The bottle is now filled with water under the theory that it will be too heavy to keep in his mouth and therefore will no longer bring him comfort..... we'll see.

Saturday we took Allie to her first CCU game. We met Walker and Peyton (and their parents, of course) and had a ball watching the band and seeing Chauncey! We didn't get to meet the mascot this game but JD kept spotting him across the field. He would wave and say "Hi Chauncey!" and blow him kisses. I'm hoping we'll get to meet him this weekend.
I'll leave you with a few more random pictures of JD from this week and last:
I gave him Trix cereal for the first time this week. I think he liked it...what do you think?
He can't open the fridge himself but scrambles to get in there when I open it....how can I fuss at him when all he wants is grapes?!?
The other day, JD woke from his nap very wet so we had to strip him down. I told him that he could go without pants if he kept his diaper on.... I went into the kitchen for about 15 seconds and came back to see this:
....So I sent him outside to see his daddy!
