I have to start this post by sending a HUGE thank you to my parents for staying with JD last night. He did great! In fact, I think I missed him more than he missed me! Every time I called I could hear him squealing and giggling in the background so I know he had fun. My parents brought their dog, Abby, up with them which helped, I think. JD loves dogs and my mom said he had a great time playing in the back yard with Abby. He went to bed at his normal time, woke briefly around 8:00, which is normal for him, and then slept the rest of the night until 5:30 this morning, which is also a pretty normal wake up time for him! When I walked in the door this afternoon he just kind of looked at me. Then he pointed at Dave and said "dada".... not the homecoming that I was expecting but I couldn't ask for anything better! I'm glad we decided to spend the night at the hotel, now I won't be sitting in the hospital in January with a newborn worried about how he's doing!
As for our Porsche event, it was a ton of fun! We arrived and checked in at the Hilton around noon. At 1:30 all of the Porsche's lined up and we headed out for the gimmick rally. This was an untimed drive along a specified route. To make it fun we had a sheet of clues and we had to find signs that answered the questions. For example, one of the clues was "Yo Adrienne! What's for dinner?" And the sign that answered that question was a sign for Rocky's Pizzas and Subs along Highway 90 in Conway. The route led us through rural Horry County and it was a beautiful day for a drive. Dave and I had so much fun finding the signs all while trying to make sure we didn't get lost on the back roads! We arrived back at the hotel around 3:00 PM, turned in our answer sheet and went back to our room to rest before getting ready for dinner.
At 6:00 PM we went down to the hotel lounge and had a few appetizers and then we boarded a shuttle that took us to a local German restaurant for an Oktoberfest celebration, complete with our own keg of Oktoberfest Spaten, which the others in the group had no problems finishing off! We got back to the hotel around 10:30 PM and collapsed into the nice, soft bed. I woke up a few times, which is typical of a woman who is 29 weeks pregnant but overall I slept very well. In fact, I slept in until 7:30 this morning and then ordered room service and at breakfast in bed, which I think might have been my favorite part of the whole excursion (how could it not be? I had warm pastries and a huge bowl of fresh fruit without a toddler trying to climb into my lap)!
At 10:30 this morning all of the Porsche's lined up again and headed out for brunch, which marked the end of our event. It was a great event and we're already looking forward to participating next year.
Here are a few pictures of our "staycation"

We woke to a beautiful day today!
