Happy Days!!

Last Friday was a day of misery. We went to the pediatrician on Thursday and got diagnosed with Hand, Foot & Mouth but I'm not too sure of the diagnosis. JD had a swollen lymph node in his neck and a rash on his chest, stomach, back, neck and a little on his face. But there were no spots at all on his hands, feet or in his mouth/throat..... but I'm not the one who's been practicing medicine for years and years so I guess he knew what he was talking about....

Anyway, back to Friday. JD developed a horrible diaper rash and was miserable all day. He's had diaper rashes before but they've never seemed to bother him. On Friday he was so miserable he even refused to sit in his high chair. He ate standing in a chair at the kitchen table and spent the rest of the day crying and clinging to me. Poor little guy. Friday night we did the normal diaper rash things, Maalox, naked baby time, lots and lots of Desitin and, on Saturday morning, it was 90% better and I had my happy baby back!

My mom came over on Saturday and stayed with JD while I went and got a hair cut (I chopped it off!) and then we went and picked out fabrics for Allison's quilt. After mom left, Dave unpacked the new crib and made a fort in the living room out of the very large box. JD loved it!
On Sunday we went and spent the day down in Pawleys for a family gathering at the Log Inn. Here are a couple of pictures of Dave, JD and I on the dock. I can't even begin to count how many times I've run up and down this very same dock in my lifetime! After the Log Inn we went to my parents house and JD had a ball running around outside. He was happy, smiling and giggling all day long!It rained all day on Monday so JD and I didn't get out but he was still a happy boy and played nicely all day long. I didn't even have to chase him down off the kitchen table too many times! Same story today. It was an overcast day but not raining so we ventured out to the grocery store where he smiled and waved at everyone he saw. Before dinner we played outside a little while and I took this quick video of our little future soccer star! He's so cute kicking the ball across the yard..... After dinner we sat him down in the grass with a cup of sugar-free Jell-O and a spoon and he had a ball making a huge mess.

I don't know where this good mood came from but I sure hope it sticks around for a while!! I'll leave you with one last picture because it was funny. JD's new favorite word is "go". He clings to my back and says "go go go" wanting piggy back rides, he climbs into and onto things and says "go go go" wanting us to push him. The other day I put away laundry in his room and he climbed into the empty laundry basket and said "go go go" so I pushed him through the house to the laundry room. When we got there he refused to get out of the basket so I piled the clean laundry on top of him.... at which point he said again, "go go go" so I pushed some more.... It was so funny. Only his head was sticking out and he was having a ball!

Very cute! I like your hair by the way... Next time we do a play date, one of us will have to provide the soccer ball because Peyton is so obsessed with them right now.. he will go around the house (or daycare) and pick up every ball he sees, say "ball", throw it, then kick it.... gotta love boys!
