Nanny and Poppy

We sure do miss having Nanny and Poppy around! They were here for three weeks at the beginning of March. I've been wanting to get this post done for several days but I think I spoke too soon in my last post when I said the sickness was over. Allie came down with round #2 of the stomach virus which triggered an awful phase. She would only sleep on me. That wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't have an older brother but poor JD got very bored while mommy was couch-bound with Allie! So we haven't gotten much sleep and now that she's not throwing up, I'm having to train her to go to sleep in her crib again... Which involves a bit of crying :(  On top of that, JD got yet another ear infection last week. He came home from school crying, with a 101 degree fever and VOLUNTARILY went straight to bed! I woke him around 5:00 to go to the doctor. He slept at the doctor's office while I was talking to the doctor and went straight to bed again when we got home. I woke him again at 7:30 to get his antibiotics in him and he played a little bit. Went to back to bed at 9:00 PM and slept until 6:00 AM the next morning. Poor guy... he was so pitiful!

But back to our visit with Nanny and Poppy! The big event of their first week here was JD's "big boy party" where we said bye bye to diapers! We had a cake and balloons and everything! He continues to do well with using the potty. We still have the occasional accident but that's mostly because he wakes grumpy from his nap and absolutely refuses to sit on the potty when he wakes up. I'm talking tantrum if I even suggest he try! Hopefully he'll grow out of that...
The kids enjoyed lots of time with Nanny and Poppy while they were here and I think Nanny and Poppy noticed lots of changes in both kids!

Their last week here they were joined by some friends from PA: Uncle Bucky and Uncle Barry. JD latched right on to Uncle Barry the two evenings they came to the house for dinner. Most of these were taken on St. Patrick's Day.... which explains the green frosting covering JD's face!
We were so sad to see Nanny and Poppy go but I've just learned that Nanny will return at the end of this month with Aunt Debba to take care of moving their furniture from their old condo to their new one (they're "moving" south to be closer to us once we move to Pawleys). We're very much looking forward to Nanny's return and to seeing Aunt Debba!!
